Re-grouting Re-siliconing
Tile re-grouting
We can restore your grout and silicone sealant to their former glory. Tile Re-grouting is a process that will dramatically improve the appearance of a tiled shower and bath area at a fraction of the cost of replacing the tiles. It is often the unsighty, discoloured, mouldy grout and silicone sealants that makes an area look awful, not the tiles.
Can I not just clean the grout?
Once the mould has penetrated the grout, the only way to get rid of it is to remove the existing grout, and replace it with a high performance grout containing antibacterial protection. Cleaning will remove the mould from the surface of the grout but the mould will simply redevelop from the inside out. Cleaning the grout with harsh acidic chemicals and cleaners such as bleach can improve the initial appearance but it actually decays the grout over time. The grout becomes more porous thus providing a perfect starting point for future mould development.
The process
Using a specially designed mechanical tool, we meticulously remove the grout from around the tiles to a depth of approximately 3 to 4 mm. All silicone sealants are removed by a tool and the remaining residue removed by a chemical remover. The preparation is the most important part of the process in order to achieve a great outcome. Once this has been completed, the area is then vacuumed. The tiles are washed down with with a heavy duty tile cleaner to remove soap scum and oil deposits. A new grout with an anti-mould additive is applied. Tiles are then polished and Silicone sealants professionally and neatly applied.
Broken or loose tiles
We will try and source a replacement for any broken tiles and refix any loose tiles.
Microflex Tile Grout
We use a cememtitious stain resistant tile grout with built in Microban antibacterial protection. Its protective qualities are ideal for high humidity areas such as bathrooms and showers. And as the Microban is built into the molecular structure of the grout, it won't wash off or wear away and will continue giving protection throughout the lifetime of the grout. They contain an admixture to provide flexibility and to enhance the bond to tile edges.
Silicone Sealants
We use a unique high performance silicone sealant with Microban antimicrobial protection.
Maintenance of your tiled areas
To maintain a mould free tiled area, we recommend regular cleaning of the shower area, including tiles, grout and sealant in order to remove residues from soap and oils from shampoos and the human body which can provide a starting point for future mould growth.
